This story is coming a few days late because I still wanted it to be close to perfect before sharing.
A couple of days back, I was thinking about how I never do anything I say I want to do because I keep planning and planning and then just let it be at the end of the day. That day, I decided to take a leap. For the longest, I have been telling a couple of my friends that I wanted to start an online bookstore; on this day, I just closed my eye and set up a Bumpa store for the said bookstore.
So good news, Heych Books is Live.
It is fully online for now, but we will keep refining as we go. I know the hardest part is always to start, and I did. See what I have in stock here. You can buy a book or five.
Interestingly, getting the Bumpa store was only step one. I did not want to go blindly into it as a passion project or something like that. So over the past few days, I dedicated time to building a model for the business.
This was a really proud moment for me. Seeing the numbers flow and the valuation come to life made me realise that my job is more a part of my life than I’d love to admit. I considered a couple of models for running the store. One was letting people order books, and then I would source the books. But I settled for stocking up some popular titles that I believe would sell out in a short time.
I am trying to demonstrate proof of concept so I could raise funds (just kidding about the fundraising part). But really, this is for me to validate some things. It is about to be an interesting journey, and I would love for you to come along with me.
Seeing as I soft-launched this here first, I will always bring gist on how this is going, the struggles and the craziness that will come with it.
A couple of things are work in progress at the moment, such as the Logo, but the books are readily available for delivery. Depending on what you order, I will throw in a gift or two.
Putting the link here again for visibility.
Please spread the word, there is a new online bookstore in town.
First time, you might want to subscribe to get the gist as it comes.
Until next time, hopefully with a juicy story,
Heych
For the logo, have you tried using AI to brainstorm?
Super proud of you! And may the outcome be SOLD OUT! 🔥
